I will start out by reading the articles and other literature from people who are already experienced with the topic of autism and music therapy. If I need assistance, there are a bunch of people I can ask for help that I know. Most of them would be quite willing to help me out. As for managing my anxiety, I have lots of activities that can help alleviate my stress. I’m not sure yet what kind of time schedule I will set up yet, however

“Being gay doesn’t mean that you’re a certain kind of person. It doesn’t change the kind of person you were before you came out. All the things that had always been true about my dad were still true after he came out to me. I knew he was still this wonderful person. Having a gay family member makes you realize that discrimination and prejudice are not acceptable in any form. For me, my dad is not my “gay dad.” My dad is just my dad.”(p. 25)

This quote stuck out to me because I have a lot of friends who are gay and I realize that they are normal people just like everyone else, but a lot of people don’t stop to think about that before they label them.

This is from the Borkowski/Halvorsen Family (Gretchen)

“I’m really proud of my family for who we are. I’m happy that we are so open with my friends, my teachers, and the world.” (43)

I think it’s great how accepting of their families the children in this book are.

This one is from the Burning Cloud/Sison Family.

“When my mom told me she was gay, I didn’t really mind. I thought that it was her decision, not mine. I can’t change it, so I was happy for her.”(49)

I hate how a lot of people think that if someone they know comes out, they have to try to change them back or alienate them because they are different when that is definitely not the case.
